Making a long board skate board

  • Jamie Schell Studio 1834 Gilmore Avenue Winona, MN, 55987 United States (map)

In this workshop we will be making custom long board skate board decks.  Last year this workshop was a major success!  You will be learning how to work with wooden veneers to create your very own unique design for the top and bottom of your board.  In addition we will be making vacuum bag forms to create the concave and convex surfaces of the deck, learning about vacuum forming, and how to shape the outside curves of the boards to create a pleasing form for your board. The final step will be to apply clear finish to the boards to show off the beautiful wood and design.  The great thing is you will leave with the information and skills to make future boards on your own without using expensive power tools.  We would then like to display your board at The Art of Fine Furniture show until the show ends on August 10th.  This is a really cool opportunity for you to show off your work!  You will then be able to pick up your board and start skating!  Please bring a lunch, drink and snack for each day.  We will have water available.  Cost for this workshop is TBD.  Limit of 8 participants. Workshop is full/Registration is closed.
